What is Into the Woods about?

Into the Woods weaves together the tales of Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel through the story of a Baker and his Wife desperate to have a child. A witch has cursed their family, and the only way to break the spell is to gather four items from the fairy tales. Act One ends 'happily ever after' – but Act Two explores what happens next.

Is Into the Woods a children's show?

Into the Woods uses fairy tales, but it's really for adults. The second act explores darker themes including death, betrayal, and moral complexity. The music and lyrics are sophisticated and emotionally rich. It's suitable for older children who can handle mature themes, but it's not a traditional family show.

What are the best songs in Into the Woods?

Sondheim's score is one of his most beloved. Highlights include 'Children Will Listen', 'No One Is Alone', 'Giants in the Sky', 'Agony' (a hilarious duet for two princes), 'Last Midnight', and 'Into the Woods'. Every song advances the story while exploring deep emotional truths.

Is this the first London revival of Into the Woods?

This is the first major London production since 2016. Previous London productions include Richard Jones' 1990 staging at the Phoenix Theatre, John Crowley's 1998 Donmar production, and Timothy Sheader's 2010 Regent's Park Open Air Theatre production. The show has never been more relevant.

What are the best seats for Into the Woods?
