About the show

The ultimate feel-good musical has been delighting audiences at the Novello Theatre since 1999. Mamma Mia! tells the sunny, funny tale of a mother, a daughter, and three possible dads on a Greek island idyll, all set to ABBA's timeless pop masterpieces including 'Dancing Queen', 'Super Trouper', and 'The Winner Takes It All'.

What is Mamma Mia! about?

Mamma Mia! tells the story of Sophie, a young woman on a Greek island who is about to get married. Desperate to discover which of three men is her father, she secretly invites all three of her mother Donna's former lovers to the wedding. The story unfolds through the songs of ABBA: Dancing Queen, The Winner Takes It All, Super Trouper, SOS, Voulez-Vous, and many more, all woven into a story about love, family, and finding out who you really are.

Why see Mamma Mia!?

Mamma Mia! has been making audiences dance in their seats since 1999 because ABBA's songs are simply irresistible when performed live by a full cast and band. The story has genuine heart beneath the fun, particularly The Winner Takes It All which delivers a real emotional punch. But the show's superpower is joy: by the curtain call, when the cast returns in full disco regalia for a mega-mix encore, every single person in the theatre is on their feet dancing. It is impossible to leave unhappy.
