Painted Love Brings Spirit of Marc Almond to Edinburgh Fringe

Two Foolish Productions brings new comedy-drama Painted Love to the Edinburgh Fringe 2018

Painted Love Edinburgh Fringe

Award winning screenwriter Chris Brannick and director Karen Kirkup bring a heart-warming comedy drama to the Edinburgh Fringe. From the team that brought you Get Fit With Bruce Willis, Painted Love follows a washed up singer-songwriter as he tries to summon up the spirit of Marc Almond to resurrect his career.

His wife wants his money, his agent wants a hit, the landlady’s grandchildren won’t shut up and a spirit from the undead wants his soul.

His solution? Find the sacred amulet of songwriting – once held by Marc – in the house where Marc once lived. A pity that the sacred amulet is just a ruse invented by the undead spirit.

Painted Love features the songs of Soft Cell and Marc Almond and is performed by Karen Kirkup and Chris Brannick.

Marc Almond has always been a fascination for Chris, who says ‘Marc is an extraordinary charismatic performer, always ambitious in his music. One of the great communicators of emotion, he wears his heart proudly and clearly on his sleeve.’

Chris Brannick is a winner of the 2018 Global Motion Picture Awards for Best Screenplay and Best Character Development and twice winner of the Chesil Theatre 10×10 short play competition.

The show is aimed at a mature audience but is suitable for over 16s.
Painted Love premiered at the Brighton Fringe before travelling to the Edinburgh Fringe in August. Chris Brannick and Karen Kirkup formed TwoFoolish Productions in 2016 to create and perform quirky theatre inspired by the music of the 80s, exploring the frustrations of finding yourself lost in a changing world. They hope to tour both shows at rural and local venues around the UK.

Painted Love plays at Valvona and Crolla (Venue 67) from 21 to 26th August 2018 as part of the Edinburgh Fringe 2018.
