London Theatre Week announces one week extension
London Theatre Week, the highly anticipated performing arts celebration spotlighting dynamic musicals and award-winning plays in London’s West End, is extending until 10 Sept.
The Book of Mormon is a musical comedy written by Matt Stone, Trey Parker and Robert Lopez. The musical tells the story of two Salt Lake City Mormons sent as missionaries to Uganda, hoping for a few baptisms and a couple of conversions. Instead, they are welcomed by some very harsh realities and a particularly unpleasant warlord.
The musical was first staged in 2011 after seven years of development at Broadway’s Eugene O’Neill Theatre where it was awarded nine Tony Awards including Best Musical.
The Book Of Mormon opened in the West End in 2013 at the Prince Of Wales Theatre. The show is currently undertaking its first UK Tour.
The Book Of Mormon West End was nominated for six Olivier Awards in 2014 winning 4 awards including Best Musical.

Discounted preview tickets for The Book Of Mormon went on sale this morning at the Palace Theatre Manchester and Mormon madness ensued.
The Book of Mormon begins long before you step into the theatre. London is adorned with its posters, our offices echo with remembered jokes and songs. As you enter Leicester Square, you are bottlenecked towards the Prince of Wales – particularly if there’s a film premiere – and when you step up to the theatre, you are encircled by queues for entry and ticket collection alike. The atmosphere is spellbinding, and the weight of expectation is colossal. I’m delighted to say that my expectations were met.
There’s no stopping fans of musical theatre. For animator Simon Chong, it seemed perfectly obviously that the opening number from The Book of Mormon should be presented in the style of South Park. The result is this witty rendition of ‘Hello’ performed by many of the South Park regular characters. Enjoy! Book Now to The Book Of Mormon
