在理查德·比恩这部屡获大奖、改编自卡洛·戈尔多尼意大利经典喜剧《一仆二主》（The Servant of Two Masters）的版本中，性、食物与金钱都是头等大事。斯基弗尔乐队把弗朗西斯·亨肖赶走后，他转而给“罗斯科·克拉布”当随从——这位来自伦敦东区的小混混如今人在布莱顿，准备向未婚妻的父亲收取6,000英镑。但“罗斯科”其实是他的妹妹瑞秋，她假扮成自己已死的哥哥；而哥哥据说是被她的男友斯坦利·斯塔伯斯杀害的……
在“板球手酒馆”（The Cricketers' Arms）里躲着的弗朗西斯永远饥肠辘辘，他瞅准机会想多挣一份“饭票”，于是又接下第二份差事，去伺候同一个斯坦利·斯塔伯斯——此人正躲避警方追捕，等待与瑞秋重逢。为了不露馅，弗朗西斯必须让两位“老板”永远别碰面。很简单。
