Os Lucille Lortel Awards 2020, que celebram produções Off-Broadway, foram anunciados a 3 de maio de 2020. Os prémios desta temporada abreviada (2019-20) tiveram apresentação de Mario Cantone (a transmitir a partir do seu apartamento em Nova Iorque), com receitas a reverterem para o Actors Fund e para os seus esforços de apoio a quem foi afetado pela crise da COVID-19. Mario Cantone. Os prémios deste ano reuniram 101 produções elegíveis (55 peças, 19 musicais e 19 reposições), sendo que 41 espetáculos foram distinguidos com um total de 95 nomeações. A liderar os vencedores da noite, com três prémios cada, estiveram a produção do Signature Theatre de Octet, musical de Dave Malloy, e a produção da Playwrights Horizons da peça Heroes of the Fourth Turning, de Will Arbery — ambas estreias mundiais — arrecadando, respetivamente, os prémios de melhor musical e melhor peça. A produção da Playwrights Horizons de A Strange Loop, de Michael R. Jackson, a produção do Vineyard de Dana H., de Lucas Hnath, e a reposição do The Public Theater de for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf, de Ntozake Shange, receberam duas distinções cada. Foi uma cerimónia como nenhuma outra, com os restantes anfitriões a participarem a partir dos seus respetivos locais de isolamento.
