The world premiere of 13 Going on 30 - The Musical is eagerly anticipated to open at Manchester Opera House on 21 September 2025. This new stage adaptation, based on the 2004 hit romantic comedy starring Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo, promises a nostalgic yet fresh take for theatre-goers.

Film writers Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa, who penned the original movie and the book for the musical, expressed their excitement about the project's progression to the stage. "It's been a joy to work with songwriters Alan Zachary & Michael Weiner and director Andy Fickman to bring this story to life as a stage musical," said Goldsmith and Yuspa. The musical's score, crafted by the duo known for their work on First Date and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, is expected to captivate audiences with its vibrant and catchy melodies.

The plot follows Jenna Rink, a young girl who makes a wish on her thirteenth birthday and wakes up the next day as a thirty-year-old woman. As she navigates her new life as a successful fashion magazine editor, Jenna explores what—and who—really matters in life. The musical will delve into themes of self-discovery and the magic of youth, resonating with both those who remember the film and a new generation of viewers.

Andy Fickman, who has directed numerous stage and screen productions, is at the helm of this production, ensuring a dynamic and engaging presentation. The musical is set to run at Manchester Opera House until 12 October 2025, with tickets going on sale on 13 November at 13:30
