Why Am I So Single? is an original musical by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, the creators of the smash hit Six. The show follows two best friends, Oliver and Nancy, as they try to write a musical about the one thing they cannot figure out: why they are perpetually single. Blending meta-theatrical comedy with genuine emotional depth, the musical explores modern dating, friendship, self-worth, and the stories we tell ourselves about love.
From the team behind Six, which became a global phenomenon, Why Am I So Single? showcases the same talent for catchy music, sharp wit, and inclusive storytelling. The score mixes pop, musical theatre, and contemporary sounds, with lyrics that are laugh-out-loud funny one moment and quietly devastating the next. The production is vibrant, modern, and unafraid to tackle the real anxieties of dating in the age of apps. If Six reinvented the historical musical, this show does the same for the romantic comedy.
Why Am I So Single? plays in the West End. Check current listings for venue and performance schedule. The show is best suited to teenagers and adults, particularly anyone who has ever stared at a dating app in despair. The running time is approximately two hours and fifteen minutes including an interval.
If you enjoy sharp, contemporary musicals, Six is the obvious companion piece from the same writers. Everybody's Talking About Jamie offers similar warmth and celebration of being yourself, while The Book of Mormon delivers irreverent comedy with a big heart.
