Olivier Awards 2020 Nominations Announced

The nominations for the Olivier Awards 2020 have been announced this morning with & Juliet receiving nine nominations. The Olivier Awards are being held at the Royal Albert Hall on 5 April 2020.

Gavin Creel and Alexia McIntosh announced the nominations for the Olivier Awards 2020 this morning with & Juliet leading the musical theatre nominations ahead of the awards ceremony on the 5 April. New jukebox musical & Juliet based on the hits of Max Martin received 9 nominations including Best New Musical, Best Actress in a Musical, Best Set Design and Best Costume Design.

Photo: Johan Persson Trevor Nunn's revival of Fiddler On The Roof which originated at the Menier Chocolate Factory before transferring to the Playhouse Theatre received 8 nominations, whilst Broadway hit musical Dear Evan Hansen received 7 nominations including Best Actor in a musical for its 21 year-old leading man Sam Tutty. Cameron Mackintosh's revival of Mary Poppins received 6 nominations and saw Sir Matthew Bourne nomination again (he received a Special Recognition Award last year).

The highly acclaimed Young Vic production of Arthur Miller's Death Of A Salesman saw Sharon D Clarke, and Arinzé Kene nominated for 5 awards, alongside Rosersmholm which saw Hayley Atwell nominated for Best Actress.

Classic plays Uncle Vanya, Present Laughter and Cyrano De Bergerac received 4 nominations each. Lucy Preeble's A Very Expensive Poison, and Tom Stoppard's Leopoldstadt were both nominated for Best New Play.
