The eagerly awaited West End production of "Just For One Day" has announced its complete cast list, marking a significant milestone in bringing the story of Live Aid to the London stage. WhatsOnStage reports that the production, which celebrates one of music's most iconic moments, will feature a combination of returning performers from its successful Old Vic run alongside exciting new additions.

Cast Announcement

Leading the company, Craige Els will reprise his acclaimed role as Bob Geldof, following his celebrated performance during the show's initial run. The production has assembled a dynamic ensemble capable of bringing to life the multiple historical figures who made Live Aid a defining moment of the 20th century.

Els will be joined by Kelly Agbowu, Julie Atherton, Jason Battersby, Jordan Cambridge-Taylor, Eloise Davies, James Hameed, Fayth Ifil, Melissa Jacques, Hope Kenna, AJ Lewis, Freddie Love, Tim Mahendran, Rhianne-Louise McCaulsky, Jack Michael Stacey, Emily Ooi, Ashley Samuels, Sadie-Jean Shirley, Jake Small, Tamara Tare and George Ure, with Kerry Enright, Evan Fox Harrison, Esme Laudat, Eddie Mann, Jaye Marshall, Lukin Simmonds and Dyd Wynford.

Production Scale

The ambitious production, which chronicles the extraordinary story behind the 1985 benefit concert, has confirmed an extended booking period until January 2026, demonstrating the producers' confidence in its appeal. The show promises to capture both the musical excitement and the humanitarian spirit of the original event.

Musical Legacy

"Just For One Day" takes on the challenge of representing one of music's most memorable moments, featuring songs from artists such as Queen, U2, David Bowie, and Madonna, that defined an era while telling the behind-the-scenes story of how the historic concert came together. The casting reflects the production's commitment to authentically representing this pivotal moment in popular culture.

Technical Innovation

The production team has worked to ensure that the show's technical elements match the ambition of its subject matter. The staging will recreate the atmosphere of the dual-venue concert while maintaining the intimate human story at its heart. The creative team includes musical supervision, arrangements, and orchestration by Matthew Brind, choreography by Ebony Molina, set design by Soutra Gilmour, costume design by Fay Fullerton, lighting design by Howard Hudson, sound design by Gareth Owen, video and animation by Andrzej Goulding, and casting by Stuart Burt.
