Ed McVey, Maisie Smith and Bruce Herbelin-Earle Lead Gripping New Stage Adaptation

The upcoming UK tour of The Talented Mr Ripley has announced its full cast, ahead of its premiere at the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham on 4 September 2025. The production marks the first ever UK tour of Patricia Highsmith’s psychological thriller and coincides with the 70th anniversary of the novel’s publication.

Following recent screen adaptations, including the 2000 Oscar-nominated film and the 2024 Netflix series, this fresh theatrical take is directed and adapted by Mark Leipacher for The Faction.

The Cast

Previously announced Ed McVey (The Crown, Netflix) will star as Tom Ripley, alongside Maisie Smith (EastEnders, BBC) as Marge Sherwood. Joining them are:

  • Bruce Herbelin-Earle (Free Reign, The Boys in the Boat) as Dickie Greenleaf

  • Christopher Bianchi as Herbert Greenleaf / Roverini

  • Cary Crankson as Freddie Miles / Alvin McCarron

  • Leda as Cleo / Dottie

  • Jason Eddy as Peter / Fausto

  • Lachlan McCall, Hollie Sullivan, and Aldous Ciokajlo-Squire round out the ensemble

About the Production

Set against the sun-drenched backdrop of 1950s Italy, The Talented Mr Ripley follows a young con artist sent to bring back the wealthy and carefree Dickie Greenleaf. But as Tom is drawn into Dickie’s glamorous world, admiration turns into obsession—and a chilling descent into deception, identity theft and murder.

This stage version promises psychological intensity and razor-sharp tension, spotlighting one of literature’s most enigmatic antiheroes.
