Two Exciting Productions Set for 2025 at London's Bridge Theatre

The Bridge Theatre has announced an exciting lineup for 2025, featuring a brand-new production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved musical Into The Woods, along with the highly anticipated return of the immersive staging of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

A Dazzling New Staging of Into The Woods

The new production of Into The Woods will have a strictly limited 20-week run beginning previews from 2 December 2025 and ending on 18 April 2026. Directed by Jordan Fein (Fiddler on the Roof, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) and designed by Tony Award-winning Tom Scutt (Cabaret, West End & Broadway), this promises to be a captivating interpretation of Sondheim and Lapine’s classic musical.

The iconic show cleverly blends four Grimms' fairy-tales around the journey of a baker and his wife, who must break a witch’s curse to start a family. Originally premiering on Broadway in 1986, Into The Woods was a critical success, earning multiple Tony Awards.

Nicholas Hytner, co-founder of the Bridge Theatre, praised the production team, stating:

Into The Woods is one of the great achievements of the American stage. Jordan Fein’s recent work was beautifully staged and overwhelmingly moving, and Tom Scutt is a designer of rare talent and imagination.”

Casting details for the show will be announced soon.

Return of the Immersive A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Following its acclaimed initial run in 2019, the Bridge Theatre’s immersive production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is returning from 31 May to 23 August 2025 (press night on 5 June). Directed again by Nicholas Hytner, this production places audiences directly into the enchanting and chaotic world of Shakespeare’s classic comedy.

Confirmed cast members include:

  • JJ Feild (Captain America, Austenland) as Oberon/Theseus

  • Susannah Fielding (The Merchant of Venice, This Time with Alan Partridge) as Titania/Hippolyta

  • Emmanuel Akwafo (For the Black Boys…, Sex Education) as Bottom

  • David Moorst (Killing Eve, Blitz) returning as Puck/Philostrate

With award-winning production design by Bunny Christie, lighting by Bruno Poet, music by Grant Olding, and movement by Arlene Phillips, this vibrant revival promises to enchant audiences once again.

Tickets and Booking Information

Both productions are expected to draw significant interest, with priority booking now open for Bridge Theatre members. Public tickets will be released on Friday 28 February 2025 at 10am.
