The West End production of Cabaret at The Kit Kat Club is set to welcome new stars Billy Porter and Marisha Wallace, starting 28 January 2025. Porter, a Tony, Emmy, and Grammy award winner, will step into the role of the Emcee, while Wallace, a double Olivier Award nominee, will take on the role of Sally Bowles.
Billy Porter is celebrated for his electrifying theatrical performances and his groundbreaking role in the TV series Pose. Marisha Wallace has gained acclaim for her performances in West End hits such as Dreamgirls and Waitress, showcasing her powerful vocal and acting prowess. Together, they are poised to bring a fresh dynamic to the iconic musical, which continues to play to packed houses and critical acclaim.
Cabaret, set in 1931 Berlin, is a mirror to the political changes in pre-war Germany through the lens of the vibrant nightlife at the seedy Kit Kat Club. The musical, known for its rich scores including classics like “Wilkommen” and “Maybe This Time,” promises an immersive experience where the theatre itself transforms into the Kit Kat Club, offering audiences not just a show but an evening of enveloping atmosphere.
The production also announced that Vivien Parry will return to the role of Fraulein Schneider, a part she previously played in 2022. The cast will be completed by Daniel Bowerbank as Clifford Bradshaw, Fenton Gray as Herr Schultz, and Jessica Kirton as Fraulein Kost, among others.
The show’s direction by Rebecca Frecknall and choreography by Julia Cheng, combined with the acclaimed musical direction, sets, and costumes, continue to make Cabaret at The Kit Kat Club a landmark production.
With its blend of critical acclaim and audience enchantment, the addition of Porter and Wallace is expected to inject new life into the production, making it a must-see for both longtime fans of the musical and newcomers alike.
