What is Cabaret about?

Berlin, 1930. American writer Clifford Bradshaw arrives in a city alive with music, desire, and possibility. At the Kit Kat Club, he falls for Sally Bowles, a dazzling English cabaret singer who lives only for the moment. Their hedonistic world seems untouchable - but outside, the shadow of fascism is growing. As the Nazis rise to power, the party at the Kit Kat Club begins to feel like the party at the end of the world.

What makes this production of Cabaret different?

Director Rebecca Frecknall has created a fully immersive experience. The entire Playhouse Theatre has been transformed into the Kit Kat Club, and guests are encouraged to arrive an hour early to explore the venue, enjoy drinks, dining, and pre-show entertainment. Acrobats, dancers, and performers mingle with the audience before the main show begins, making you feel part of the decadent world.

What songs are in Cabaret?

John Kander and Fred Ebb's legendary score includes 'Willkommen', 'Don't Tell Mama', 'Mein Herr', 'Maybe This Time', 'Money, Money', 'Two Ladies', 'I Don't Care Much', and the devastating title song 'Cabaret'. Each song has become a musical theatre standard, but in this intimate, immersive setting, they feel newly revelatory.

What are the best seats for Cabaret?

Every seat offers a unique experience in this transformed space. Tables closer to the stage (Cabaret Table and Club Table categories) offer the most immersive experience, while traditional theatre seating provides a more conventional view. When booking, you'll receive a 'club entry time' to make the most of the pre-show experience.

Is Cabaret suitable for teenagers?

Cabaret is recommended for ages 13 and above at parent/guardian discretion. The show contains adult themes including suggestive sexual content, references to abortion, domestic violence, and anti-Semitism. It's a powerful but mature theatrical experience best suited to older teenagers and adults.

Should I see Cabaret or Moulin Rouge?

Both offer spectacular, immersive experiences but are very different. Moulin Rouge! is a joyful celebration with contemporary pop songs, while Cabaret is a darker, more intimate experience exploring the dangerous allure of hedonism as fascism rises. Cabaret's smaller venue creates a more intensely immersive atmosphere.
