Annunciate le Nomination ai Tony Awards 2019

Le candidature ai Tony Awards 2019 sono state annunciate oggi con 'Hadestown' che ha ottenuto il maggior numero di nomination. Il trasferimento a Broadway di 'The Ferryman' di Jez Butterworth ha ricevuto nove nomination.

Hadestown ha dominato la classifica delle nomination per i Tony Awards 2019 con 14 candidature, mentre Ain't Too Proud, il musical jukebox sui The Temptations, è arrivato secondo con 12 nomination. Dopo di loro, 'Tootsie' con 11 nomination, l'importazione britannica The Ferryman con 9 nomination e Beetlejuice con 8 nomination. Le candidature di quest'anno saranno ricordate più per le loro omissioni che per le inclusioni. Sia Glenda Jackson che Nathan Lane sono stati esclusi per King Lear e Gary: A Sequel To Titus Andronicus rispettivamente nelle categorie di attore protagonista. Anche To Kill A Mockingbird e Network, che ci si aspettava di vedere nella categoria Miglior Spettacolo, sono stati omessi.

Le nomination sono state annunciate questa mattina da Brandon Victor Dixon e Bebe Neuwirth.

Questa 73ª cerimonia dei Tony Awards sarà ospitata da James Corden al Radio City Music Hall il 9 giugno 2019.
