티켓 예매 팁을 확인해 보세요. 1910년 12월 26일 문을 연 더 팔라디움(1934년까지는 이 이름으로 불렸습니다)은 곧바로 버라이어티 공연의 대표 무대로 자리 잡았습니다. 1926년에는 판토마임 ‘신데렐라’가 올려졌고(이 공연의 영상 자료가 지금도 남아 있습니다)

1930년대 내내 코미디·버라이어티 팀 ‘더 크레이지 갱(The Crazy Gang)’이 이 극장에 정기적으로 출연하며 대중은 물론 왕실로부터도 큰 사랑을 받았습니다. 이 시기 흥행·대관 업무는 공연 흥행사(임프레사리오) 밸 파넬(Val Parnell)이 맡아 운영했습니다. 제2차 세계대전 중에는 폭탄 위협도 겪었습니다. 불발된 낙하산 기뢰가 지붕을 뚫고 떨어진 사건으로

프랭크 시나트라 등이 그 주인공이었습니다. 팔라디움의 버라이어티 쇼 인기는 ITV의 간판 프로그램 ‘Sunday Night at the London Palladium’로 더욱 확산됐는데

이 프로그램은 방영 기간(1955~1967) 내내 생방송으로 송출됐습니다. 1968년에는 새미 데이비스 주니어가 주연한 ‘Golden Boy’로 이 극장 첫 뮤지컬 제작을 선보였습니다. 1980년대 ITV1의 ‘Live From the Palladium’로 버라이어티가 한 차례 부활한 뒤

극장은 ‘Oliver!’와 ‘Saturday Night Fever’ 등 뮤지컬 공연 비중을 점차 늘려갔습니다. 2000년 Really Useful Group이 극장을 인수한 이후에도 이런 흐름은 이어졌습니다. 이 극장은 엘튼 존 같은 아티스트의 콘서트를 여는 등 ‘원래의 뿌리’로 자주 돌아가며

Open its opening on December 26 1910

The Palladium (as it was titled until 1934) quickly became a premier venue for variety performances

such as the 1926 pantomime Cinderella (video footage of this production remains to this day). Throughout the 1930s

the entertainment group The Crazy Gang performed at the theatre regularly

gaining widespread popularity with the general public as well as the Royal Family. During this time

bookings were manages by theatrical impresario Val Parnell. During the Second World War

the theatre suffered a bomb scare when an unexploded parachute mine fell through the roof. A Royal Navy bomb disposal team arrived on the scene and managed to render it safe. Parnell became managing director in 1945 and embarked on a radical policy of favoring famous American acts at the top of the bill. These included Judy Garland

Bob Hope

Sammy Davis Jr

and Frank Sinatra. The popularity of the Palladium’s variety shows would be further expanded with the ITV programme Sunday Night at the London Palladium

which was broadcast live throughout its run (1955-1967). In 1968

the theatre produced its first musical

the theatre began showing more musicals

Including Oliver! and Saturday Night Fever. When the Really Useful Group purchased the theatre in 2000

the trend continued. The theatre often returns to its roots as the host of music concerts (such as Elton John) and as a regular host of the Royal Variety Performance (as recently as 2013).
