이번 Half A Sixpence 프로덕션은 완전히 새롭게 제작되었습니다. Mary Poppins와 The Wind In The Willows로 성공을 거둔 뒤, 프로듀서 캐머런 매킨토시는 수상 경력의 뮤지컬 창작 콤비 조지 스타일스와 앤토니 드루, 그리고 Downton Abbey의 창작자 줄리언 펠로스와 함께 이 사랑받는 뮤지컬에 현대적인 감각을 더한 ‘리메이크’ 작업에 나섰습니다.
Half A Sixpence는 H. G. 웰스의 반(半)자전적 소설 『Kipps: The Story Of A Simple Soul』을 뮤지컬로 각색한 작품입니다.
캐머런 매킨토시는 드라마 스쿨을 막 졸업한 Half A Sixpence의 주역 찰리 스텀프에 대해, 놀라운 재능을 지닌 ‘차세대 스타’라고 극찬했습니다.
원작 Half A Sixpence는 1963년, 영국 팝 센세이션 토미 스틸을 위한 맞춤형 작품으로 쓰였습니다. 그야말로 압도적인 존재감의 토미 스틸은 런던과 브로드웨이 프로덕션에서 Half A Sixpence의 주연을 맡았고, 이후 영화화 작품에서도 킵스 역을 이어갔습니다.
