Tour nel Regno Unito di Quality Street - Northern Broadsides presenta il classico di J M Barrie

La tournée britannica di Quality Street di J.M. Barrie sarà presentata dai Northern Broadsides da febbraio 2020. Annunciato il cast per questo revival raramente messo in scena.

È stato annunciato il cast della tournée UK di Quality Street, la produzione d’esordio di Laurie Sansom come Direttore Artistico dei Northern Broadsides. Questo allestimento, una rara ripresa della farsa di J.M. Barrie, debutterà a febbraio 2020 a Halifax, patria di Quality Street™, il marchio di cioccolatini più popolare nel Regno Unito. All’epoca l’opera di Barrie ebbe un tale successo da dare il nome ai celebri cioccolatini.

Jessica Baglow interpreterà la protagonista Phoebe Throssel, con Dario Coates nel ruolo dell’interesse amoroso, Valentine Brown. Completano il cast Jim English (Fanny Willoughby/Arthur), John Gully (Recruiting Sergeant/Spicer/Georgy), Claire Hackett (Patty), Louisa May Parker (Susan Throssel), Alicia McKenzie (Mary Willoughby), Sophie Mercell (Charlotte Parratt) e Gabriel Paul (Ensign Blades/Isabella).

Lo spettacolo segna l’inizio di un nuovo modello produttivo per i Broadsides: ogni produzione viene co-creata con “squadre di creazione” formate dalla comunità locale. Per questo progetto, gli attori collaboreranno con i lavoratori della fabbrica Quality Street™, sviluppando racconti contemporanei di amori sfortunati e un commento dal vivo che incornicerà l’azione della rom-com in stile Regency di Barrie. Oltre a offrire una lente moderna attraverso cui guardare la storia di Barrie, i Broadsides puntano anche a costruire rapporti duraturi tra i dipendenti e la compagnia teatrale del territorio.

Phoebe Throssel vive in Quality Street, il vivace cuore di una pittoresca cittadina del Nord, dove gestisce una scuola per bambini indisciplinati.

Si trasforma nella selvaggia e scintillante Miss Livy, un alter ego più giovane che presto fa cadere nella rete l’ingenuo capitano. Mentre la loro storia si riaccende, riuscirà a tenere insieme entrambe le identità? O il suo inganno scandalizzerà la città e rovinerà qualsiasi futuro con l’uomo che ama?

La tournée UK di Quality Street farà tappa a Halifax, Salford, Liverpool, Newcastle upon Tyne, Leeds, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Hull, York, Lancaster, Bury St Edmunds, Guildford, Derby, Scarborough e Harrogate.

Quality Street è diretto da Laurie Sansom, con scene e costumi di Jessica Worrall, disegno luci di Joe Price e sound design di Nick Sagar.
