Cancellazioni di pantomime e licenziamenti nel teatro: un bilancio aggiornato

Abbiamo visto così tante notizie sulle cancellazioni di panto e sui licenziamenti nel teatro che abbiamo deciso di mettere insieme un conteggio aggiornato quotidianamente sull'impatto sull'industria teatrale.

L'industria teatrale è al centro di una delle più grandi minacce alla sua esistenza, innescata dalla pandemia di COVID-19 che minaccia cancellazioni di panto e licenziamenti nel teatro.

I teatri di tutto il paese sono nel bel mezzo di enormi consultazioni di licenziamento a seguito di un lungo ritardo da parte del governo nell'annunciare i finanziamenti per l'industria delle arti. Questi licenziamenti stanno ora aumentando a seguito dei ritardi da parte del governo sulle linee guida che significa che la stagione dei pantomimi 2020-21 a livello nazionale è più che probabile che venga cancellata completamente.

Con la stagione dei pantomimi che genera profitti utilizzati dai teatri per coprire i loro costi operativi per l'anno successivo e l'impatto sulle aziende associate che forniscono i teatri e le compagnie di produzione, l'effetto domino è probabile che sia catastrofico.

Al momento attuale, più di 3000 freelance teatrali sono passati inosservati, senza ricevere cassa integrazione, nessun beneficio e poco supporto da oltre 4 mesi ormai. Questa è una posizione insostenibile.
