Simon Lipkin stars as Fagin, receiving an Olivier Award nomination for his acclaimed portrayal. Shanay Holmes plays Nancy, with Aaron Sidwell as Bill Sikes and Aaron MacGregor as the Artful Dodger. Philip Franks plays Mr Brownlow. The role of Oliver is shared by talented young performers including William Barker, Sebastian Elton, Isaac Nelson, and Odo Rowntree-Bailly.
Oliver! is produced and revised by Cameron Mackintosh, directed and choreographed by Matthew Bourne, and co-directed by Jean-Pierre van der Spuy. Design is by Lez Brotherston, lighting by Paule Constable and Ben Jacobs, sound by Adam Fisher, and video by George Reeve. Musical supervision is by Graham Hurman.
Lionel Bart's Oliver! has won numerous Tony and Olivier Awards since its 1960 premiere, including Best Musical. The show was adapted into an Academy Award-winning film in 1968. This new production has received exceptional critical acclaim with five-star reviews and Simon Lipkin's Fagin earning an Olivier Award nomination.
Oliver! is recommended for ages 7 and above. Children under 3 are not admitted. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over. The production contains some scenes of violence appropriate to the Dickens story that parents should consider for younger children.
Oliver! runs approximately 2 hours 40 minutes including one interval. Evening performances begin at 7:30pm with matinees on Thursday and Saturday at 2:30pm. The show is currently booking through October 2026 with further extensions likely due to demand.
Gielgud Theatre is located at 35-37 Shaftesbury Avenue, London W1D 6AR. The nearest Underground station is Piccadilly Circus (Piccadilly and Bakerloo lines), approximately a 3-minute walk. Photography and recording are not permitted during Oliver! performances. Mobile phones must be switched off before the show. The production contains theatrical haze and some loud sound effects. Latecomers will be admitted at a suitable break.
Gielgud Theatre offers wheelchair spaces and transfer seating. An infrared hearing system is available throughout the auditorium. Assistance dogs are welcome with staff dog-sitting available. Audio described, captioned, and BSL-interpreted performances are scheduled throughout the Oliver! run.
The theatre has bars on multiple levels serving refreshments before the show and during the interval. An adapted toilet is available in the foyer. Educational group rates are available for school bookings – perfect for studying the Dickens classic!
