Grandes Ganadores del Drama Desk: The Curious Incident y Hamilton

La producción del National Theatre de El Incidente Curioso del Perro a Medianoche ganó seis premios Drama Desk incluyendo Obra Sobresaliente, Actor Sobresaliente en una Obra y Director Sobresaliente de una Obra, siendo superada solo por Hamilton, el nuevo musical de Lin-Manuel Miranda que ganó siete premios. Es la primera vez desde 1983 que un espectáculo de Off-Broadway (Little Shop Of Horrors) supera a sus contrapartes de Broadway. Helen Mirren ganó Actriz Sobresaliente en una Obra por su actuación en The Audience. El espectáculo de un solo hombre de Jim Dale, Just Jim Dale actualmente en el escenario en Londres, ganó Mejor Revista.

Los premios Drama Desk, otorgados anualmente en varias categorías, son los únicos importantes honores de teatro de la ciudad de Nueva York para los cuales las producciones de Broadway, Off-Broadway y Off-Off Broadway compiten entre sí en la misma categoría. Formada en 1949 por un grupo de críticos, editores, reporteros y editores de teatro de la ciudad de Nueva York, la organización fue creada para educar a la comunidad sobre temas vitales concernientes al teatro.
