Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary roller-skating spectacular returns in a stunning new production at the specially designed Starlight Auditorium at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre. As a child's train set comes to life, 40 performers on roller skates race around and above the audience in this fully immersive theatrical experience. Featuring beloved songs including 'Starlight Express' and 'AC/DC'. Winner of the 2025 Olivier Award for Best Costume Design.
When a child falls asleep, their toy train set comes magically to life. The engines compete in a race to determine the fastest train in the world. Rusty, an old-fashioned steam engine, seems to have no chance against modern diesel and electric competitors like Greaseball and Electra. But with the support of Pearl, an elegant first-class coach, and the belief in a legendary power called the Starlight Express, Rusty discovers that what matters most is believing in yourself.
The original London production ran at the Apollo Victoria from 1984 to 2002, playing over 7,400 performances. This spectacular new production opened at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre in June 2024 and has extended six times due to phenomenal demand, now booking until May 2026. A world tour begins in 2027. Over 30 million people have seen the show worldwide.
Yes! All 40 performers race around the purpose-built auditorium on roller skates at thrilling speeds. The specially designed Starlight Auditorium features tracks that surround and pass above the audience, creating a truly immersive 360-degree experience unlike any other show in London.
Andrew Lloyd Webber's rock-influenced score includes the power ballad 'Starlight Express', the energetic 'AC/DC', the romantic 'Make Up My Heart', the uplifting 'Light at the End of the Tunnel', plus new songs 'I Do' and 'I Am Me' written for this production. Richard Stilgoe provides the witty lyrics.
Since the action happens all around you, every seat offers a unique perspective. Centre sections give the most balanced view, while seats near the tracks provide the most thrilling experience as skaters zoom past just feet away. The Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre has been specifically designed for this show.
Starlight Express is perfect for families with children aged 3 and above. The spectacular skating, colourful costumes, catchy songs, and underdog story appeal to all ages. It's an ideal first theatre experience for children as the immersive nature keeps young audiences engaged throughout.
Cancellation policy: theatre tickets cannot be cancelled, exchanged, or refunded once purchased.
