Matilda The Musical, based on the cherished book by Roald Dahl, has captivated audiences worldwide, having been seen by 12 million people across 100 cities. The musical continues its successful run at the Cambridge Theatre in the West End and will celebrate its 15th anniversary with this tour. The production is renowned for its creative storytelling and vibrant musical numbers, penned by Tim Minchin and scripted by Dennis Kelly.

The tour will open in Leicester on October 6, 2025, and will travel to several cities including Bradford, Liverpool, Plymouth, Sunderland, Edinburgh, and Manchester, with performances scheduled through March and April 2026. Additional tour dates will be announced next year, ensuring that more fans across the region can experience the magic of Matilda.

Priority booking for RSC and Theatre Members and Friends, as well as ATG+ Members, will begin on October 22, 2024, with general ticket sales following shortly after.

This production of Matilda The Musical is celebrated not only for its artistic achievement but also for its profound message of resilience and the power of imagination. Composer and lyricist Tim Minchin commented on the longevity and success of the show, expressing deep pride in the project and its impact: “It's deeply satisfying to see how 'Matilda The Musical' continues to inspire audiences, years after its debut."

Director Matthew Warchus also shared his enthusiasm for the new tour, highlighting the importance of bringing this inspiring story to a new generation of children and families.

The RSC’s co-artistic directors, Daniel Evans and Tamara Harvey, are excited about the opportunity to bring this production back on tour, stating, "Matilda Wormwood's genius continues to teach us valuable lessons, and we are thrilled to share her story with audiences up and down the country."
