The Watermill Theatre has unveiled an exciting cast for its upcoming festive production, Michael Morpurgo’s Pinocchio. The show, a musical adaptation crafted by Simon Reade with music and lyrics by Chris Larner, promises to be a holiday highlight from November 15, 2024, through January 5, 2025.
Leading the cast in the titular role of Pinocchio is Jerome Yates, known for his performances in Our Teacher’s Troll and Peter Pan & The Battle for Neverland. Joining him is Christopher Bianchi as the loving creator "Geppetto," with Fred Double portraying the wise "Cricket." The ensemble also includes Hanora Kamen as the cunning "Fox," Lottie Latham as "Signora Geppetto," and Eddy Payne playing the role of "Cat."
The production is co-directed by Elle While and Indiana Lown-Collins and features a rich tapestry of puppetry, set design, and live music that brings the whimsical world of Pinocchio to life. Simon David, a standout in musical theatre, will enhance the show as the musical supervisor and onstage musical director.
Artistic Director Paul Hart expressed his enthusiasm for the diverse talents assembling for this production, stating, "The terrific cast for this will be assisted by puppets created by our very own Geppetto, Marc Parrett. I’m thrilled with the depth and breadth of talent we’ve gathered to tell this classic tale."
The Watermill Theatre, renowned for its innovative and immersive productions, invites audiences to experience this enchanting story, which blends traditional narrative with contemporary theatrical techniques. Special events like the "Pinocchio Fun Day" on October 29 will offer families additional ways to engage with the story through themed crafts and activities.
Tickets are now available for this must-see production, with a special offer for the first performance including a complimentary hot drink and sweet treat.
