Rhys Ifans
Rhys Ifans is to star as Ebenezer Scrooge in a new production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol at the Old Vic Theatre in November 2017. The new adaptation is by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter And The Cursed Child) and will be directed by the Old Vic Artistic Director Matthew Warchus.
The classic Christmas tale which sees a cold-hearted miser visited by four ghosts on Christmas Eve is an uplifting tale of redemption and a firm family favourite.
Ifans recently performed in King Lear at the Old Vic and is perhaps best known for his film work including Snowden, Notting Hill, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, and Elizabeth - The Golden Age. A Christmas Carol will be designed by Rob Howell, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, Sound by Simon Baker and composition and arrangements by Christopher Nightingale. A Christmas Carol starts previews at The Old Vic from 18 November and will run until 20 January 2018.
