New Adventures is thrilled to announce the return of Matthew Bourne’s award-winning production, The Midnight Bell, which is set to embark on a UK tour starting on 15 May 2025 at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham. This beloved production, inspired by the works of English novelist Patrick Hamilton, delves into the lives of ordinary Londoners in the 1930s as they navigate the highs and lows of love and life in Soho and Fitzrovia.
After premiering in 2021 and receiving widespread acclaim, including five nominations at the 2022 National Dance Awards, The Midnight Bell is now poised to captivate audiences in numerous new venues across the country. Matthew Bourne expressed his excitement about revisiting this poignant narrative, highlighting its exploration of human connections and its significant role in welcoming back national touring post-Covid.
The production is the result of a celebrated collaboration among some of the industry's finest talents, including Olivier and Tony award-winning team members like composer Terry Davies, set and costume designer Lez Brotherston, lighting designer Paule Constable, and sound designer Paul Groothuis.
Featuring a cast of fourteen exceptional actor-dancers from New Adventures, this tour promises to showcase the darker reaches of the human heart through powerful storytelling and innovative dance. Full casting details will be announced shortly, adding further anticipation to this already eagerly awaited tour.
The Midnight Bell tour will include stops at prestigious venues such as Theatre Royal in Bath, Hall for Cornwall in Truro, and Sadler’s Wells, amongst others, culminating in late 2025. Each performance will offer audiences a unique and immersive theatre experience that reflects Bourne's visionary approach to dance and drama.
