Olivier Award-winning play Hangmen by Martin McDonagh is to transfer to New York City after success at London's Royal Court and in the West End.

The black comedy will receive its US premiere Off-Broadway at the Linda Gross Theater as part of Atlantic Theater Company’s 2017-2018 season.

It will be directed by Matthew Dunster, who was director of the original production at the Royal Court in 2015 with David Morrissey, Reece Shearsmith and Johnny Flynn. It transferred to the Wyndham's Theatre with most of the same cast although Shearsmith was replaced by Andy Nyman.

With casting yet to be confirmed for the Off-Broadway production, it is set to run at the Linda Gross Theater from January 8 to March 4, 2018.

The Atlantic Theater's 2017-18 season will also include the New York premiere of Simon Stephens' On the Shore of the Wide World, about a family in Stockport, running from August 23 to October 1, 2017.
