New Musical Celebration of Princess Diana Opens in London and Salford This Summer

The producers of The Diana Mixtape have announced that Keala Settle (The Greatest Showman) and Priyanka (winner of Canada’s Drag Race) will join the cast of the bold new production, which premieres in London at HERE @ Outernet from 28 July to 10 August 2025, followed by a limited run at The Lowry in Salford from 19 to 24 August .

This genre-blending musical—part concert, part biopic, part theatrical spectacle—is created and directed by Christopher D. Clegg and reimagines the life and legacy of Princess Diana through some of the most iconic pop songs of the 21st century .

Pop, Performance, and Princess Power

The Diana Mixtape tells the story of the People’s Princess through a high-energy mix of pop anthems and drag-infused performance. Songs originally performed by artists such as Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue, and Rihanna feature throughout, brought to life by an ensemble of West End performers and internationally acclaimed drag artists .

Keala Settle will star as Queen Elizabeth II, while Priyanka joins the line-up of queens portraying Princess Diana. Also joining the cast are Noel Sullivan (We Will Rock You, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) as King Charles III and Lucinda Lawrence (Cool Rider, 9 to 5 The Musical) as Queen Camilla .

They join previously announced performers Courtney Act, Divina De Campo, Rosé, Kitty Scott-Claus, and Baby—each portraying different aspects of Diana’s persona in a show that celebrates camp, complexity, and cultural iconography.

A Creator’s Vision: “A Love Letter to Diana”

Christopher D. Clegg, the show’s writer and director, is best known for productions including Death Drop, Cool Rider, and Gals Aloud. He describes The Diana Mixtape as:

“Part musical, part concert, part biopic … this is a love letter to Diana and her legacy as one of the most celebrated and adored figures in history. It lifts up Diana and celebrates the joy and love she brought to the world.”

He added that the show is “as loving and heartfelt as it is fierce and fabulous,” promising a theatrical experience that fuses drag, fashion, dance and pop in one unforgettable celebration .

Star Reactions

Speaking about her role, Keala Settle said:

“I’m thrilled to play a down-to-earth version of one of my greatest idols, Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. And I get to share the stage with some of the world’s most renowned drag queens. Don’t be jealous—just come join us!”

Priyanka said:

“Coming back to the UK after my sold-out tour is a dream. I love my UK fans, and I can’t think of a better way to reunite with them than by bringing Princess Diana to life night after night.”
