Leading dance company BalletBoyz are to present two productions in a new double bill at Sadler’s Wells in London and around the UK.
Photo: Hugo Glendinning Them/Us begins its tour at Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre on 23 February before visiting venues around the country including a run at Sadler’s Wells from 5 to 9 March.
The double bill features a new piece called Them, created in-house by the company and set to a score by emerging London-based composer and saxophonist Charlotte Harding.
The other part of the double bill, Us, has been developed by Christopher Wheeldon who was choreographer on Olivier Award-winning productions Aeternum and Polyphonia and won a Tony for best choreography for An American in Paris.
Us features an extended score by cult singer-songwriter Keaton Henson and is based on a duet featured in the company’s last show, Fourteen Days, which premiered at Sadler’s Wells in 2017.
The double bill aims to ask “where we see ourselves in relation to the ‘other’ and explores the fine balance between them and us”.
As well as Edinburgh and Sadler’s Wells, it will visit Yeovil, Lichfield, Salisbury, Bromley, Portsmouth, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Exeter, Chester, Richmond, Guildford, Glasgow, Oxford, Barnet and Bristol.
Founded in 2000 by ex-Royal Ballet dancers Michael Nunn and William Trevitt, BalletBoyz are known globally for their ground-breaking live performances, films and TV appearances. The company has performed around the world and won numerous awards and accolades working with leading dancers, choreographers and designers.
