Christopher Luscombe brengt een bijzonder geestige herneming van de iconische Beatrice-en-Benedick-show, omlijst door het magnifieke historische decor van Simon Highlett en fabelachtige kostuums. De verrukkelijke muziek van Nigel Hess en de vrolijke choreografie van Jenny Arnold maken het plaatje compleet. De keuze om het stuk direct na de Eerste Wereldoorlog te situeren pakt uitstekend uit; de sfeer van een kantelend tijdperk voelt volkomen logisch aan. Het is een zachtmoedige maar dartele enscenering, waarin je de komst van de 'roaring twenties' en de flappers al bijna kunt horen. Sinds 1999 uw vertrouwde bron voor het grootste theaternieuws uit Groot-Brittannië.
