Austentatious is a completely improvised comedy show in the style of Jane Austen. Each performance, the cast takes a title suggested by the audience and creates an entirely new Austen novel on the spot, complete with all the wit, romance, social commentary, and elaborate language of the Regency era. No two shows are ever the same, making every visit a unique theatrical experience.
This is one of the West End's most consistently entertaining shows. The cast's ability to conjure fully formed characters, intricate plots, and period-perfect dialogue from nothing is genuinely remarkable. Even if you have never read a word of Jane Austen, the comedy is accessible and hilarious. For Austen fans, the show is a masterclass in affectionate parody. Austentatious has been performing for over a decade, building a devoted following and earning a reputation as one of London's best nights out.
Austentatious performs regularly in the West End. Check current listings for venue, dates, and times. The show is suitable for teenagers and adults. Because every performance is improvised, repeat visits are actively encouraged. The running time is typically around one hour and forty minutes.
For more improvised comedy, the West End offers a range of options. If you prefer scripted comedy, The Play That Goes Wrong offers brilliantly choreographed chaos, while Fawlty Towers brings classic British humour to the stage.
