NEWS UPDATE: X FACTOR WINNER MATT CARDLE JOINS THE CAST OF MEMPHIS FROM JULY 5THE BROADWAY HIT COMES TO LONDON

Memphis the musical took Broadway by storm when it first opened there in 2009 winning numerous awards including Best Musical. It eventually ran there til 2012 after 30 previews and 1165 regular performances.

WHAT IS MEMPHIS ABOUT?

From the underground dance clubs of 1950s Memphis, Tennessee, comes a hot new Broadway musical  that bursts off the stage with explosive dancing, irresistible songs and a thrilling tale of fame and forbidden  love.

Inspired by actual events, Memphis is about a white radio DJ who wants to change the world and a black club  singer who is ready for her big break.

WHO STARS IN MEMPHIS?
Memphis features the phenomenal talents of Beverley Knight and Killian Donnelly. Beverley Knight had her West End debit in The Bodyguard. She has sold over a million albums in the UK and been nominated three times for Best Female at the Brit Awards and twice nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. Beverley performed at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Paralympics in London.Killian Donnelly received critical acclaim for his performance in the World Premiere of The Commitments at the Palace Theatre.Beverley Knight does not appear at all performances. She is 
NOT
 scheduled to perform on the following dates: 31 (Matinee) December 2014, 5, 21-23 January 2015, 27-28 February 2015, 3-7, 10 and 24 March 2015, 1 April 2015.

From 12 January 2015, she is not scheduled to perform at Monday evening or Wednesday matinee performances. The role of Felicia will be played by Rachel John on these dates.

Killian Donnelly will not be performing the role of Huey on Thursday evening performances.

The producers of Memphis cannot guarantee the appearance of any particular artists, which is always subject to illness and holidays.

Come along on their incredible journey to the ends of the airwaves - filled with laughter, soaring emotion and roof-raising rock 'n' roll. Winner of four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Memphis features a Tony-winning book by Joe DiPietro (I Love You, You're Perfect Now Change and All Shook Up) and a Tony-winning original score with music by Bon Jovi founding member David Bryan.

Bryan's score gives you the impression that you are listening to one of the greatest jukebox musicals ever written - full of pulsating, driving rock and roll, but what you are listening to is a fabulous original score.

IS MEMPHIS A FAMILY SHOW?
Memphis is a great show for kids. Other than a scene involving a violent beating which happens offstage, Memphis is good clean fund that has a positive message. Most teenagers will like the rock and roll score, in fact one of the first non-professional productions of Memphis was staged by high school students selected from across the state of Illinois at a big theatre festival in 2013 to great acclaim.
