From the Edinburgh Fringe to global phenomenon, Six transforms Henry VIII's six wives into a 21st-century girl group at the Vaudeville Theatre. This pop-concert musical gives Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard and Catherine Parr the chance to reclaim their crowns and tell their stories through chart-worthy anthems. Winner of multiple WhatsOnStage Awards and Olivier-nominated for Best Musical.
Six reimagines Henry VIII's six wives as modern-day pop stars competing in a singing competition to decide who had the worst experience being married to the notorious king. From Catherine of Aragon's fierce Beyoncé-inspired anthem to Anne Boleyn's rebellious Avril Lavigne-style pop-punk number, each queen takes the stage to tell her side of the story. But as the competition builds, the wives realise they're more than just footnotes in his story.
Six began as a student production at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2017, created by Cambridge students Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss. After transferring to the Arts Theatre, it moved to its permanent home at the Vaudeville Theatre in 2021, where it's now in its 6th year. The show has been seen by over 3.5 million people worldwide and recently extended booking to January 2027.
Each queen has her own signature song inspired by different pop artists: 'No Way' (Catherine of Aragon/Beyoncé), 'Don't Lose Ur Head' (Anne Boleyn/Avril Lavigne), 'Heart of Stone' (Jane Seymour/Adele), 'Get Down' (Anna of Cleves/Nicki Minaj), 'All You Wanna Do' (Katherine Howard/Ariana Grande), and 'I Don't Need Your Love' (Catherine Parr/Alicia Keys). The show opens with 'Ex-Wives' and closes with the empowering 'Six'.
Six is recommended for ages 10 and above. While children will love the catchy pop music and girl-power message, some songs contain mature themes including references to beheading and infidelity. The show is presented as a loud pop concert with flashing lights. For younger children, consider Matilda The Musical or The Lion King.
Six is performed in a concert-style format, so the entire Vaudeville Theatre has excellent views. The Stalls put you closest to the high-energy action, while the Dress Circle offers a great overview. Since the show is performed directly to the audience, even seats to the side work well.
Six breaks the mould in several ways: it's only 80 minutes with no interval, features an all-female cast backed by an all-female band (the 'Ladies in Waiting'), and is staged like a pop concert rather than a traditional musical. The interactive 'Megasix' finale, where the audience votes for which queen performs a bonus song, makes every performance unique.
Cancellation policy: theatre tickets cannot be cancelled, exchanged, or refunded once purchased.

Six was written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss while they were students at Cambridge University. The creative team includes choreography by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, set design by Emma Bailey, and costume design by Gabriella Slade.
Six has won multiple WhatsOnStage Awards and was nominated for five Olivier Awards including Best New Musical. On Broadway, it won two Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Costume Design. The show has become a global phenomenon with productions across North America, Australia, Japan, and a UK tour, and was released as a cinema event in April 2025 featuring the original West End cast.
