What is The Inheritance about?

Matthew Lopez's two-part epic, inspired by E.M. Forster's Howards End, explores the lives of a generation of young gay men in New York City. Set in the aftermath of the AIDS crisis, The Inheritance asks what it means to inherit a history of loss and activism, and what obligations the present generation owes to those who fought and died. The play is simultaneously a sweeping social drama, an intimate love story, and a meditation on the relationship between art, politics, and the pursuit of a meaningful life.
