What is The Lehman Trilogy about?

The Lehman Trilogy by Stefano Massini, adapted by Ben Power, tells the extraordinary story of three brothers who emigrated from Bavaria to America in the mid-19th century and built what would become one of the most powerful financial institutions in the world. Spanning 163 years, from a small fabric shop in Montgomery, Alabama to the 2008 financial crash, the play charts the rise and fall of Lehman Brothers through three actors who portray multiple generations of the family.

Why see The Lehman Trilogy?

Directed by Sam Mendes and originally starring Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley, and Ben Miles, this production has won multiple awards including five Tony Awards and an Olivier Award for Best New Play. The rotating glass box set by Es Devlin is a masterclass in theatrical design, and the storytelling is both epic in scope and intimate in its character detail. At under three and a half hours (with intervals), the play moves at a pace that makes the decades fly by.
