What is Hello, Dolly! about?
Hello, Dolly! follows the irrepressible Dolly Gallagher Levi, a matchmaker and meddler extraordinaire in 1880s New York, who decides to match the wealthy Horace Vandergelder with herself. The show is a celebration of life, love, and the determination to grab happiness with both hands. Jerry Herman's score includes the iconic title number, Before the Parade Passes By, Put on Your Sunday Clothes, and It Only Takes a Moment.
Why see Hello, Dolly!?
Hello, Dolly! is one of the greatest roles in musical theatre, and every production rises or falls on the charisma of its leading lady. When the full company sings the title number and Dolly descends the staircase, it is one of the most joyful moments in all of theatre. The show is pure theatrical exuberance: big songs, big dances, big laughs, and a big heart. Jerry Herman's melodies are unforgettable, and the show's message that life is for living is timeless.
