The Band - The New Musical Explained

We thought it might be a good idea to take a look at new musical The Band, explaining what is actually happening rather than rumour. Now that the reality talent show Let It Shine is over this is what is known about The Band.

So here's what we now know:-

Who has written The Band? The Band is a new musical by Tim Firth with the music of Take That. Tim Firth co-wrote the original screenplay for Calendar Girls and collaborated with Gary Barlow on the musical The Girls which is now running in the West End. Read our review. What is The Band About?

The Band will be about five 16-year-old girls. For these girls Take That has provided the soundtrack to heir lives.

So who will star in The Band?

It has become clear that the casting of these girls has already been done and the parts will be played by unknown actresses.  The winners of Let It Shine - boyband Five To Five which comprises AJ Bentley, Curtis T Johns, Nick Carsberg, Sario Solomon, Yazdan Qafouri will be in the show but they are not the leading characters.

Gary Barlow will not be appearing in the show.

Fourteen Take That songs will be used in The Band but we don't know which songs as yet.

When Do Tickets Go On Sale?

What Else Is Known About The Band?

Well we know that The Band is going to be directed by Jack Ryder! Perhaps best known for his days in EastEnders, Jack has forged a successful career as a theatre and film director. Jack is currently Assistant Director on The Girls and Director of the UK tour of The Full Monty.

The Band is to be produced by award-winning producers David Pugh and Dafydc Rogers who are currently producing The Girls and Take That.
