Guest reviewer Noah Pantano reviews Shar Cooterie: Well Swung presented as part of the Colchester Fringe Festival.

Shar Cooterie: Well Swung Three Wise Monkeys, Colchester Fringe Festival 5 Stars Colchester Fringe Festival Website

I regret to say I walked out of Shar Cooterie: Well Swung. For twenty seconds mind you, because I really had to use the bathroom, and I did immediately rush back, but it's twenty seconds I will forever regret nonetheless. Shar Cooterie at one point quips to her incredibly talented pianist Adam Saiz Abo-Henriksen that nothing was going right at tonight’s performance. Frankly, I’m jealous of the man, woman, or non-binary person who gets to see a more perfect performance.

Shar Cooterie is a seasoned artist bringing fresh takes and mashups to classic queer hits from ABBA, Sam Smith, and more. We’re going to hope RuPaul doesn’t sue Shar Cooterie for performing a jaw-dropping rendition of Sissy That Walk that challenges the original. If you have any doubt about Shar Cooterie and Adam’s ability to hypnotize the audience, the entire crowd was swaying back and forth, laughing incessantly, and clapping along.

It was a beautiful end to an already great evening of fringe theatre. My only criticism is the same as Shar Cooterie’s: Adam needs better shoes.
