Pleasure Dome Theatre are delighted to be returning to their home at the Valley of Rocks this summer with a production of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic family tale Treasure Island! In a side-splitting new adaptation written by Ben Fensome whose most recent play BUFF premiered at the VAULT Festival in Jan 2023 and is now transferring to the Pleasance for the Edinburgh Fringe with a preview run at Theatre Royal Plymouth, and directed by the award-winning Scott Le Crass who just made his directorial West End debut with
ROSE starring Maureen Lipman, this spectacular theatrical feast for the senses will delight the whole family. Making up this exceptional crew will be the charming Gina Jamieson, whose credits include Bobby in The Railway Children with Hull Truck, the marvelous Miranda Braun who recently appeared at the Soho Theatre in UNSOUND, and the dynamic Rebeca Sierra who has toured internationally with the brilliant Flying Seagull Project. Returning to perform again with Pleasure Dome is Janna Fox after making her primetime Television debut in The Inside Man, she will be remembered to audiences in Exmoor for her hilarious Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream in 2021. Accomplished actor-musician Lydia Barton Lovett also returns after joining the company for their ACE-supported 2021 tour of LOUISA in partnership with the RNLI. The indomitable Nayomie James returns in her third production at the Valley of Rocks as does operatic soprano Stephanie Berner after touring last Autumn with Somerset Opera in the title role of Amahl and the Night Visitors. Young performer Freya Warren Brand completes the company of what we are sure will be an unmissable theatrical experience on "nature's greatest stage." Set and Lighting by Pleasure Dome Theatre Associate Artists Lizzie Watts and Jai Morjaria make up this powerhouse team with all-new music from composer and musical director Sebastian Payne. Pleasure Dome's Treasure Island is set to be a joyful fiesta-flavoured swashbuckling extravaganza! So join Jim and a host of raucous yet melodious pirates on an adventure to recover Captain Flint's buried gold!
