Open auditions have been held for Motown The Musical. Photo: Craig Sugden An open casting call for the upcoming production Motown The Musical attracted almost 200 people who auditioned for the chance to portray iconic legends of the Motown era.

Motown The Musical recounts the story of one of the most successful music labels in history. Started with just $800 borrowed from his family, Berry Gordy changed music forever by discovering artists including Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Diana Ross.

Motown The Musical features 50 Motown tracks including Dancing In The Street, Stop! In The Name Of Love, Ain't No Mountain High Enough, My Girl and I Heard It Through The Grapevine.

Motown the Musical opens at the Shafestbury Theatre in February 2016.
