Tongue-In-Cheek Feminist Superhero Musical Vulvarine comes to the Edinburgh Festival 2018.

Superhero musicals with a male protagonist are a dime a dozen (sorry Eugenius!) so it's refreshing to see Vulvarine - a tongue-in-cheek feminist superhero musical (no we're not kidding).

Bryony Buckle is astoundingly average. Her days are filled with mind numbing office work, thinking about lunch and lusting after Orson Bloom from IT. But following a dose of hormone therapy gone wrong and a well-timed bolt of lightning, Bryony gains superhero abilities and a brand-new persona: Vulvarine, saviour of womankind. Where is all the tampon tax going? Who is The Mansplainer, and what is his evil plan? Grab your tights, your spanx and your most supportive sports bra. It’s hero time.

Vulvarine is from the creators of the award-winning Edinburgh Fringe sellout Buzz: A New Musical. Fat Rascal Theatre believe that the time has come for a new politically relevant superhero musical that combines pop culture, musical theatre and gender discussions!

Fat Rascal Theatre is fast becoming a home for new musicals with five new musicals written and produced since its inception in 2016. The company is run by women, discussing social and political issues through an accessible and appealing format to engage a wider audience. They believe that theatre should aim to inspire, educate or liberate and should be available to everybody.

Vulvarine will be presented at the Assembly George Square Studio Two from 1 - 26 August at 7pm with two pre-Edinburgh seasons at The Other Palace London (21-22 July 2018), Seven Arts Leeds (27 July 2018), and Theatre Deli Sheffield (28 July 2018).
