Imelda Staunton as Martha in Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf. A statement released today has announced that a ban on eating during performances of Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf will be enforced during the run of the show at London's Harold Pinter Theatre.
In a move that is sure to delight hard-core theatre fans the statement made the following policy decisions public:-
Out of consideration for the actors and for fellow audience members, we ask that no food be consumed during the performance, whilst food purchased at bars in the theatre may be eaten before the show, or during one of its two breaks. Drinks will be allowed into the auditorium in plastic cups.
Latecomers are also not being admitted during the performance, with those who leave the auditorium not able to return until an interval.
Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? stars Imelda Staunton and Conleith Hill and is now in previews.
In recent times Staunton has been critical of audiences being allowed to eat during performances.
What are your thoughts on this ban? Can you survive an hour without having to eat?
