Hampstead Theatre is a theatre in South Hampstead, in the London Borough of Camden. It specialises in commissioning and producing new writing, supporting and developing the work of new writers.
The original Hampstead Theatre Club was formed in 1959, in Moreland Hall, a parish church school hall in Holly Bush Vale, Hampstead. James Roose-Evans was the founder and first Artistic Director, and the 1959–1960 season included The Dumb Waiter and The Room by Harold Pinter, Eugène Ionesco's Jacques and The Sport of My Mad Mother by Ann Jellicoe. In 1962, the company moved to a portable cabin in Swiss Cottage, where it remained for nearly 40 years, before, in 2003, the new purpose-built Hampstead Theatre opened. The main auditorium seats 373 people. The studio theatre, Hampstead Downstairs, seats up to 100 people and was turned into a laboratory for new writing in 2010. In 2022, Arts Council England removed the theatre's public funding.

Great out of central London theatre that's easy to get to and has an often changing offering both in the main auditorium and downstairs. Seats were comfortable. Show was great. Very high quality and worth a trip if there's something on you like the sound of. Seats prices better than west end prices
Lovely theatre, seats were comfortable and the views were great ( I was in row C), the theatre is tiered so you can see well from most seats without someones head being in the way.
Great theatre with comfortable seats and good views, I sat in the arcade section and saw the play well. Always seen high quality and engaging plays here and they have good ticket prices. Friendly staff and nice audience members who appreciate theatre! Has a pleasant cafe/bar area which is nice to sit outside in the summer. Also has The Downstairs Theatre which Seats about 100 and smaller stage.
Great little theatre, with some innovative shows and excellent actors.
