The Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company's Plays At The Garrick Season is about to draw to its conclusion with The Entertainer starring Kenneth Branagh.

ABOUT THE ENTERTAINER

The Entertainer is a play by John Osborne which was first produced in 1957. The play is performed in three acts. The Entertainer was written by Osborne at the behest of Sir Laurence Olivier, and had its first performance at the Royal Court Theatre on 10 April 1957 starring Olivier.

WHAT IS THE ENTERTAINER ABOUT?

The Entertainer is about Archie Rice, a failing music-hall performer in middle age.

Set against the backdrop of post-war Britain, John Osborne's modern classic conjures the seedy glamour of the old music halls for an explosive examination of public masks and private moments.

ABOUT JOHN OSBORNE

John Osborne (1929-1994) was an English playwright and screenwriter, known for his critical view of established political and social norms. He is perhaps best known for his play Look Back In Anger.
