Wicked Becomes Sixth Longest Running Show On Broadway

Wicked has become the sixth longest running show on Broadway with a run now surpassing 6,138 performances.
On Thursday 12 July 2018, Wicked surpassed A Chorus Line as the sixth longest running show on Broadway when it reached its 6,138th performance at the Gershwin Theatre.
Wicked, based on the novel of the same name by Gregory Macguire opened at the Gershwin Theatre on 30 October 2003. Wicked features a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman and is directed for the stage by Joe Mantello and musical staging by Wayne Cilento.
As Wicked continues to climb the ladder of Broadway's long runners it must now outlast Broadway's top 5 long-running shows which includes the current number one Phantom Of The Opera which has to date played over 12,678 performances, current number two Chicago (1996 Revival) which has now surpassed 9,003 performances, current number three Disney's The Lion King which has surpassed 8600 performances, current number four Cats which ran for 7485 performances, and current number five Les Miserables which ran for 6,680 performances before it closed in 2003. Wicked continues in London at the Apollo Victoria Theatre
