Tributes are paid as actress Ann Crumb passes away aged 69

Tributes have been paid by both Broadway and West End community members to mark the passing of Ann Crumb who was 69.

Ann Crumb Perhaps best known for her starring role opposite Michael Ball in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Aspects Of Love, Ann was the first American actress chosen by Lloyd Webber to originate a starring role in one of his musicals which she did here at the Prince Of Wales Theatre, London and also on Broadway.

Rest in Peace Angel xx", whilst Michael Ball tweeted "Devastated to hear of the passing of the devine Ann Crumb my co-star in Aspects Of Love on Broadway and in the West End. My heart goes out to all her family. Tragic".

Ann was seen on Broadway and in the West End in roles in shows including The Goodbye Girl, Chess, Les Miserables and Nine in concert. She received a Best Actress Tony Award nomination for her performance in 1992's Anna Karenina. She also performed in the tours of Man Of La Mancha and the Off-Broadway revival of Rags.

Ann succumbed to ovarian cancer after a five year battle with the disease.  Ann was the daughter of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer George Crumb and the violinist Elizabeth Crumb who both survive her, and brothers Peter and composer David Crumb.

Unfortunately, this is the only clip of Ann in Aspects taken from the Tony Awards. A vibrant and exceptional talent she will not be forgotten.
