The Diana Tapes To Make Off West End Debut

James Clements' The Diana Tapes will make its Off West End debut at the Stockwell Playhouse in May following a season at HERE in New York.

The Diana Tapes comes to Stockwell Playhouse

Ana Cristina Schuler as Diana Princess Of Wales.

The Diana Tapes is the true story of one of the greatest ever media scandals, the publication of Andrew Morton's book "Princess Diana, Her True Story in Her Own Words", which ended her marriage and shook the British Monarchy to its core.

Written by James Clements and directed by Wednesday Sue Derrico, The Diana Tapes is based on the real transcripts from the Princess's tapes, moving between Morton's office, the sitting room where the Princess recorded her darkest secrets onto audio cassettes, and the dingy West London cafe where one of her best friends surreptitiously handed them over. It's a tale of subterfuge and deception that are brought to a scorching climax that changed celebrity, privacy and the Windsor family forever. The production gives voice to a woman so often defined by images and archetypes, and instead presents her complex and multifaceted reality. It tells her story in her own words.

First work shopped at the Edinburgh Festival where it was shortlisted for the Holden Street Theatre Award, it has subsequently had workshops in Providence New York and Toronto where it received acclaim.

The cast of The Diana Tapes includes Ana Cristina Schuler (Diana, Pincess of Wales), James Clements (Andrew Morton), Jorge Morales Picó (James Colthurst), and Sam Hood Adrain (Michael O’Mara).

The Diana Tapes is directed by Wednesday Sue Derrico, sound design by Adam Welsh and Jorge Morales Pico, sets, props and costumes by Mairi MacInenns.

The Diana Tapes will play HERE in New York from May 24 - June 10, 2018 before transferring to London's Stockwell Playhouse from June 26 - July 13, 2018.
