The Royal Opera House management has cancelled the remaining shows in its season, which was due to conclude in late July 2020.
The Convent Garden Opera House whose tenants include The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet confirmed that performances and events would not resume during the current season which was to have ended on 23 July 2020.
This would include all events in the building, cinema screenings, all tours, and school events.
The House issued a statement which said "We want to take this opportunity to thank our community of artists, craftspeople and other backstage staff, as well as our supporters and audiences, as we continue to navigate through this incredibly difficult time.
"Although our building is closed, we remain open 24/7 online through our #OurHouseToYourHouse programme, which provides a suite of content that audiences can access for free anywhere, anytime. Our Create and Learn programme also provides free home-learning opportunities for children and young people between now and 17 July, with new activities, challenges and courses added every Friday.
"We will keep any date for re-opening under constant review following direct guidance from the government and Public Health England,"
