Victor Oshin is to play the title role in Othello for English Touring Company.
English Touring Theatre has announced that Victor Oshin will play the title role in Richard Twyman's criticaly acclaimed production of Othello on tour.
Othello is one of Shakespeare's most startlingly contemporary plays – a masterful depiction of a life torn apart by prejudice.
Venice; a western colonial power employs the newly-married Othello, a Muslim general, to lead their army against the impending Turkish invasion. The strain of fitting into a society riven by discrimination and fear soon take their toll. Manipulated by Iago, Othello's life quickly unravels as he turns on everything he holds dear.
The tour of Othello opens at the Oxford Playhouse on 20 September 2018. During this tour ETT will continue in its committmentto make touring theatre accessible to young people by offering tickets for £2.50 to young people aged 25 and under.
Othello is designed by Georgia Lowe, associate design by Alex Berry, composer and sound design by Giles Thomas, lighting design by Matt Graham, and movement direction by Lanre Malaolu.
Othello is a co-production between English Touring Theatre, Oxford Playhouse and Tobacco Factory Theatre.
