James Dacre haalt alles uit de kast om de wisselende tonen en stijlen van het stuk tot hun recht te laten komen. Het resultaat is een even bruisende als meeslepende avond; een politieke doolhof die aanvoelt als een rit in een achtbaan. In dit stuk is het lastig de ware schurk aan te wijzen, aangezien er genoeg gegadigden zijn voor die titel. De grootste troef van Dacre's regie is echter de ruimte die de personages krijgen, waardoor hun gelaagdheid en rijkdom volledig tot bloei komen. RECENSIE: Love's Sacrifice, The Swan Theatre ✭✭
Ondanks het smaakvolle decor en de prachtige kostuums van Anna Fleischle (met name de zwartfluwelen vloer en de verfijnde details vallen op) en de innemende rollen van Catrin Stewart, Jamie Thomas King, Andy Apollo, Colin Ryan en Matthew Needham, slaagt de regie van Dunster er niet in te bewijzen dat Love’s Sacrifice een herneming waard is.
